Fans linked an incident in February 2025, in which Pokimane announced that she lived with Josh “Ellum” as a roommate.Through a statement issued on December 27, 2025, Pokimane reiterated that she had rented a room in Ellum’s apartment for proximity to friends to steam with them or collaborate in live content. She clarified that she had not been living in the apartment for an extended period because she had her own residential address.

Pokimane stated that she had learned about Puffy’s experience with Ellum months earlier, after Cara privately shared her concerns in October 2025 following a collaborative TikTok that raised fan warnings.
Out of respect and consideration for Puffy, Pokimane said she immediately stopped visiting the apartment and ceased making duo content with Ellum.
“I’ve since spoken to Cara privately and apologized so she knows I took what she said seriously,” Pokimane said. “I’ve also decided to move out as that’s what makes me most comfortable.” She clarified that her involvement in Ellum’s living situation was limited, and that she had been distant from the apartment and duo projects for several months prior to the public backlash.
Ellum responded separately on X, acknowledging the situation, though he did not provide detailed commentary on the allegations.
