Indians too much more patriotic than whites: Row over '100% Indian Boy Scouts' at Frisco Council meeting

The bi-monthly meetings of Frisco Council has dominated headlines in the last few weeks and there was no exception after March 3 meeting as well as social media influencer, whistleblower Marc Palasciano posted a photo of Boy Scouts to complain what he called the ‘Indian takeover’ but it backfired as many Americans pointed out that there is nothing alarming in it.

Boy Scouts (now officially part of Scouting America, formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America or BSA) refers to youth scouting programs that focus on character development, outdoor skills, leadership, citizenship, and adventure for young people (typically ages 5–18, depending on the level). At the beginning of Frisco City Council meetings, Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts (from local packs or troops) are frequently invited to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. This is a common opening tradition for many Texas city councils, including Frisco’s, to start the meeting with patriotic elements.

“100% Indian Boy Scouts in Frisco Texas tonight. Is this what diversity looks like?” Palasciano complained. Many social media users said a possible explanation of Indians participating in local Boy Scouts might be that Left Wing Whites are not joining Boy Scouts. “Looks like a bunch of assimilated American immigrants’ kids committed to community service and life preparedness to me. Posting a photo of a bunch of children in order to be racist about them is a pretty creepy thing to do,” one wrote.

“What’s the problem HERE, you endless whiners? Indians too much more patriotic than whites or Blacks? Just join the god damn Boy Scouts,” another wrote.“Isn’t this exactly what assimilation looks like? This is a Boy Scouts group dressed perfectly. That’s American culture right there. So what’s the issue? The color of their skin? Because to me the main thing is assimilating into American culture. That’s what matters,” a third user wrote.

“Can we petition the council for a city name change? Much like Paris , Athens, Dublin, Odessa, Palestine, Rome, …Bengaluru or Tex Deli might be options. I’m sure there’s some creative others. Continuing to use Frisco is embarrassing,” one wrote condemning the ‘assimilation’.
