20-year-old Prabhjot Singh deported from Canada after involvement in extortion-related crimes

A 20-year-old Punjabi man has been removed from Canada after being linked to an ongoing extortion investigation in Surrey, British Columbia. The Surrey Police Service (SPS) said foreign national Prabhjot Singh was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of involvement in extortion-related criminal activity. Following his arrest, officers shared information with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which later led to him being removed from the country after an immigration investigation.Police have now released his photograph to gather more information about his activities and possible associates. In a statement, SPS said the image is being made public to assist ongoing investigations regarding extortion crisis in the region.Authorities said they are seeking information from the public, including potential witnesses or associates who may have interacted with Singh while he was in Canada. Police believe such information could help identify criminal networks linked to violent extortion cases.A separate account from the police release described Singh as having been “removed from Canada” following the CBSA’s immigration process triggered after the SPS investigation. Police said this action followed his arrest and the sharing of intelligence between agencies.Surrey has recorded 91 extortion reports and 16 related shooting incidents since the start of 2026. Identifying lower-level suspects is key to uncovering organised networks believed to be operating both within Canada and internationally. The SPS has also reminded the public of a $250,000 Extortion Reward Fund, set up in 2025, which remains active for information leading to arrests and convictions in extortion cases.
