Indian man shot dead in Philadelphia after delivering pizza to a housing complex after midnight

A 28-year-old man was shot dead in North Philadelphia after he delivered pizza boxes inside a housing society. The man has been identified as Anshul Kuncha, an Indian man. The shooting took place on Friday after 12.30 am at the Raymon Rosen Homes housing complex on Edgeley Street in North Philadelphia.

Kuncha was shot in the head after completing the delivery. The address where the delivery was made was, in fact, a vacant unit. But police found a phone number from where the order was made and are working on this lead.“He was lying on the ground unresponsive, bleeding heavily with a gunshot wound to his head,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small with the Philadelphia Police Department. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“From looking at the pizza boxes, we were able to identify the pizza shop,” Small said. It has now been confirmed that Kuncha worked for Pete’s Pizza. At the scene, police recovered three spent shell casings, just inches away from where the victim was found. “Which is an indication that the shooter or shooters were standing very, very close to the victim,” Small said. The victim’s vehicle was also discovered near the scene, with a pizza warmer still inside.

Inside the vacant apartment, officers found three pizza boxes and a bag, which appeared to be untouched, leading investigators to believe that the victim successfully delivered the items before being shot outside.Police said surveillance cameras operated by the Philadelphia Housing Authority captured portions of the incident and the shooting was not caught on the camera. But the delivery person was being followed by two people wearing dark clothing. One of the people following the victim appeared to be carrying a dark backpack, the footage revealed. No one is in custody, but police said they do have a lead. “We do have the phone number that made that pizza delivery,” Small said.
