IITs are introducing a cross-campus study programme from the 2026-27 academic year, allowing students to take courses or spend a full term at other IIT campuses, with credits transferred back to their home institute. IIT Madras highlighted that curricula across campuses are being mapped to ensure smooth credit transfers. The initiative offers students greater choice, exposure to specialised courses, interdisciplinary learning, and peer collaboration, marking a first formal academic exchange within India’s premier technical institutions.
