A midnight fire at the hostel of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district claimed the life of a six-year-old Class I student, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit. Thirty other children were rescued by a Class VIII student and the hostel warden. District officials visited the site, ordered a magisterial inquiry, and announced a safety audit of all residential schools. The fire, intensified by wooden structures, caused extensive property damage.
